Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP for the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she first gained notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 with her release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July in 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her work on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The news was released on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. The release album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks by EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music clip was released, followed by a music video September. The 9th of November saw her release two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two more singles were released by her on 11/13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole as part of her Creed II sound track on November 16. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted that was released on February 20, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube within one week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
